Missed the taas/taks test...?

my family and i just lost my mother. i have 2 younger sisters still in school. (im 22, 10, 5) my problem lies with the 10 year old. both of my sisters have been out of school for about a week, since she went into the hospital, and then all of the funeral arrangements. i was just curious if anyone knew for sure how the testing works. i know that there is a make up day, but is that day also for retesting if failed? does she automatically fail if she does not take the test under these cirstances? the principal told us she HAD to be there. so we took her to school. the superintendent is now involved saying that she had no right to make that decision. im not sure as to how all of this works, so if anyone could help me out and let me know... please do!!
