Are all Scottish people bad or is that just a stereotype?

A lot of people in America feel that Scottish people are bad, some even taking their ideas to the extreme belief that Scottish people are inherently evil. They often make claims that Scottish people are rapists and child molesters, but they are never able to provide facts to support their claims. I was raised to believe that discrimination is bad. To make generalizations about groups of people and discriminate against them is un-American, but still this attitude prevails unchallenged in most sectors of American society. So is the belief justified?
